In the 2007-08 season, Lisette Oropesa sang the role of Susanna in Le
Nozze di Figaro at the Metropolitan Opera. Of these performances, The
New York Times wrote, “She proved a vocally and physically agile
Susanna, with an attractively silky, flexible timbre. Her fine comic instincts
and cheerfully bright sound put her in command of the stage during much
of the first two acts. But she conveyed emotional depth too, most notably
in her moving, dark-hued account of ‘Deh vieni, non tardar’ in the final
act.” The New York Sun wrote, “ Ms. Oropesa has a lovely voice, and she
sings naturally. Her sound opened up like a flower. And Ms. Oropesa made
an exceptionally smart and savvy Susanna.”

In the 2008-2009, Ms. Oropesa makes her debut with Arizona Opera as
Gilda in Rigoletto, and sings her debut performances of Lucia di
Lammermoor with Baton Rouge’s Opera Louisiane. She also returns to the
Metropolitan Opera for several performances: She will sing the role of
Lisette in La Rondine, Woglinde in Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung,
and the Wood Bird in Siegfried in the Ring Cycle conducted by James
Levine. Additionally, she performs the Liebeslieder Waltzer in Carnegie Hall’
s Zankel Hall with James Levine and Daniel Barenboim at the piano.

In future seasons she returns to the Metropolitan Opera, and will make
several international debuts including Konstanze in Die Entführung aus
dem Serail at Welsh National Opera, Nanetta in Falstaff in Bilbao, Spain,
and Gilda at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, among others.

Ms. Oropesa has won numerous awards including the First Place award
presented by the Gerda Lissner Foundation, and the Licia Albanese Puccini
Competition, as well as a George London Award. She was the recipient of
a Sarah Tucker study grant in 2007. At Plácido Dominogo’s Operalia
Competition in the summer of 2007 in Paris, she won the Zarzuela Award
as well as winning third place in the general competition. Additionally, she
is also the recipient of a 2008 Sullivan Foundation Award.

Ms. Oropesa received her bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from
Louisiana State University.
